Introduction

The goal of the Darts Ontario Adult Program is to form and support a strong provincial team and bring home the Canada Cup. Membership is open to all Ontario residents with a Fee of $23.00.

Darts Ontario’s provincial team is selected from the top eight male and female players and the top doubles team in the provincial championships held each year on Easter Weekend. Members of Darts Ontario qualify to play in the championships through four different avenues: participation in zone shoots, earning an exemption based on the previous year’s results. ranking buy-ins and affiliate buy-ins.

Zones

Each season members are eligible to play in four zone shoots.
Members must play in the zone in which they currently reside.

Participants must be members of Darts Ontario. Membership can be purchased at the Zone Shoot 1 from the Zone Director. The cost is $10 per member per event, singles and mixed doubles. If you are uncertain regarding which zone in which you reside, please contact the Darts Ontario Adult Director.


Zone Map

The province is divided into 18 zones in Southern Ontario. Each zone is comprised of various counties determined by population and player participation. Eastern Ontario is structured differently in that they are based on closest cities, taking into account unpopulated areas.

Zone & Championship Dates

The four Zones are regularly scheduled as follows:

Western Zone Shoot 1: The Final Sunday in November
Western Zone Shoot 2: The Second Sunday in January
Western Zone Shoot 3: The First Sunday of February
Western Zone Shoot 4: The First Sunday of March

The Darts Ontario provincial championships are held Friday through Sunday of Easter weekend each year.

The top 40% of participants in a zone are invited to play in the provincial championships, and some are provided rooms at the event.

Exemptions

The following players are given exemptions based on previous year’s results:

  1. The top eight players in each singles event from the previous year’s Provincial Championship.
  2. Zone Winners for singles from each of the previous year’s zone shoots.
  3. The top four male and female players on the ranking list as of April 30th the previous year.


Exempted players are still responsible for purchasing yearly memberships for Darts Ontario and will forfeit exempted status should they attempt to earn a purchased event room by participating in the zone events.

Darts Ontario Provincial Ranking Program

Players may accumulate Darts Ontario Ranking Points by participating in all Darts Ontario Ranked tournaments. Points are awarded based on the size of event and finishing position in the event. The top four male and female players as of April 30 will earn a bye into the Provincials championship. Top male and female players will also receive paid memberships in Darts Ontario and will receive a booked room at the host hotel.

Rules

All players participating in zone shoots and the provincial championship are expected to read and understand the rules and regulations, including specifications for Dress Code, for Darts Ontario tournaments.

Venue and Hotel Rooms

Players must register as Darts Ontario players when booking rooms at the venue. Failure to do so may result in suspension of membership in the future. Hotels Rooms in the host venue are assigned and guaranteed. Room Assignment will be posted as soon as possible after the youth championships.
